The Lakers have brought back one of its own, officially signing point guard Derek Fisher. The Lakers have also re-signed center Chris Mihm.
While I love Derek Fisher, and I think his veteran leadership is something the Lakers desperately need, I just don't quite understand the Lakers giving him $14 million. I'm also a blown away at whatever their reasons are for bringing back Mihm. Mihm didn't play in a single game last year due to injuries and yet they waste money on one of the most inconsistent players who has ever played for them. Mitch Kupchak continues to find more and more ways to give every single Laker fan false hope, and the Mihm signing, moreso than the Fisher signing, provides plenty of it. I sure hope Mitch has something else up his sleeve that we don't know about, like finding a way to get KG from Minnesota, or pulling a rabbit out of his hat and getting both Jermaine O'Neal and Ron Artest. (I know, I know... WISHFUL THINKING! Ha!)
